Our Environmental Commitment

Hershey Entertainment & Resorts is committed to being an industry leader by engaging in and supporting practices that preserve our natural resources and the Earth. This initiative is part of our continued legacy of caring for people and the environment in which they live, work and play. It is an integral and continuously evolving part of our corporate culture. It is evergreen.

Our efforts have been divided into six sub-committees.

RECYCLING & HAZARDOUS WASTE:

Sustain a company-wide recycling program. Seek new and innovative ways to lessen our environmental impact through waste reduction and disposal programs.

ENERGY:

Support, encourage and assist in the reduction of energy across all facilities through technology, education and conservation.

PURCHASING:

Purchase environmentally safe products for use throughout the company in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

Provide educational opportunities to develop and reinforce environmentally sound business practices.

RECOGNITION:

Recognize achievements and improvements that advance and promote our Green initiatives.

COMMUNICATION:

Educate and communicate with all audiences about our programs and progress.

Current Green Initiatives:

• New Woodside Cottages At The Hotel Hershey will be LEED Certified
• Meeting rooms will offer water pitchers instead of bottled water
• Green program in guest rooms
• Hershey Lodge is offering organic guest room amenities
• Use of local purveyors for fish, vegetables, and herbs
• Purchase seafood from approved lists
• Java jackets made from recycled fiber
• Use of bio-degradable carry-out food containers
• Converting fryer oil into bio-diesel fuel
